  • UW Space Place The University of Wisconsin has a long history of innovation in science and technology and has been involved in space research since the late 1950s. In an effort to encourage students and the general public to learn, think, and talk about space science and research, the UW Astronomy Department's Space Astronomy Laboratory opened the UW Space Place, located on South Park Street, in 1990 as an education center open to the public that specializes in astronomy and space science.
