program.
K-Through-Infinity (KTI), funded by the National Science Foundation, is a
program of joint professional development for K-12 teachers and graduate
students in math, science, and engineering. KTI provides graduate students with
fellowships to work with teachers to enhance math and science instruction in the
classroom. KTI provides a unique professional development experience that brings
valuable university resources to meet the learning goals of the Madison
Metropolitan School District, participating schools, and individual classrooms.
K-12 educators and graduate students carry out projects to improve inquiry-based
math and science teaching while learning valuable leadership and teamwork
skills.
UW Space Place
The University of Wisconsin has a long history of
innovation in science and technology and has been involved in space research
since the late 1950s. In an effort to encourage students and the general public
to learn, think, and talk about space science and research, the UW Astronomy
Department's Space Astronomy Laboratory opened the UW Space Place, located on
South Park Street, in 1990 as an education center open to the public that
specializes in astronomy and space science.
